The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa is the 3rd book in the Iron Fey Series. My review for book 1, The Iron King can be read here, and my review for book 2, The Iron Daughter can be read here.


Megan has come a long way from the weak and vulnerable girl she was when she first discovered her brother was kidnapped in "The Iron King." Now that Megan Chase and Prince Ash have been banished from Faery, all Megan wants to do is go back to her human family and resume the life she had before. Her plans include going back to school, and finding a way for Ash to fit into her human life. But the Iron Fey have different plans as they try to kidnap Megan and bring her to the new Iron King. She is forced to go on the run and reluctantly agrees to return to Faery as she realizes the Iron Kingdom is slowly destroying the entire Nevernever. Megan has never been as powerful as she is now, but she is barely able to tolerate even the simplest magic without passing out. When she killed the first Iron King, she inherited his powers, but they are incompatible with her natural summer fey powers she inherited as King Oberon's daughter.

If she is to defeat the new Iron King, she must find a way to use her powers successfully and then save the Faery Realm with Puck and Ash's help, while accepting the new situations that present themselves.

The more time Megan spends in the Iron Kingdom, the more she is accepted by a percentage of Iron Fey as their new leader, but the more it pulls her apart from Ash, as iron is fatal to the rest of the Fey. If Megan agrees to lead the Iron Fey, what will become of her relationship with Ash, who cannot reside in the Iron Kingdom?

Like books one and two in this series, I inhaled this book and traded sleep for reading time. As I mentioned in the previous reviews, this is one of my favorite book series. If you like paranormal romance with books you have trouble putting down, you will love this as much as I have. I can hardly wait until the conclusion to the series is released, The Iron Knight, Ash's Story.

The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa is the second book in the Iron Fey Series. The review for book one, The Iron King can be read here. In the first book Megan Chase, half human, and daughter of King Oberon, the Summer King, rescued her four year old brother with the help of Puck of the Summer Court and Prince Ash of the Winter Court by defeating the Iron King.

"The Iron Daughter" takes place after she has returned her brother home and as Prince Ash comes to collect Megan and bring her to the evil Queen Mab, as per the agreement she made to Prince Ash for his assistance in rescuing her brother.

Megan is imprisoned at the Winter Court for an undisclosed amount of time while Prince Ash does not even acknowledge her presence. Any hint of feeling and warmth he had previously shown her was gone. Was it all an act? Or is he protecting her by shielding his feelings for her. While there, Megan uncovers a plot to steal the sceptor that controls the seasons. Without it being passed between the Summer King and the Winter Queen on schedule, all of Faery is disrupted. The Summer King and Winter Queen still don't actually believe the Iron Kingdom exists while the Iron King uses that to bring Summer and Winter to the brink of war. It is up to Megan Chase, Prince Ash and Puck to find the sceptor and return it to the Winter Queen before war breaks out.


Will they be successful in stopping the war in time? And what startling act gets Prince Ash banned from the Faery Realm for all eternity?


This sequel is every bit as exciting as the first book, where once again I got very little sleep since I couldn't put this book down!

"The Iron King" By Julie Kagawa

"The Iron King" by Julie Kagawa is book one in what has become one of my all time favorite book series. If you like paranormal romance, love triangles and falling in love with a literary bad guy, then this book series is for you.


The Iron King starts with Megan Chase, a seemingly ordinary girl whose 4 year old brother is stolen and exchanged for a changeling. Determined to rescue her brother and bring him home, she embarks on a journey to the Nevernever, finding out her best friend Robbie is actually Robin Goodfellow AKA Puck from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She then finds out the man who disappeared during her childhood is not actually her father, but she is in fact the daughter of Oberon, the King of the Summer Fey.


Megan learns very quickly that as a half-human, there are many dangerous things in the Faery Realm that pose a risk to her. But since she is half-fey she also realizes she has powers she never knew she had. She just has to discover them and learn to harness her power while staying alive and rescuing her brother. Megan notices a dark figure, Prince Ash from the Unseelie Court, following her and tries to find out if he has a role in her brother's disappearance. Mortal Enemies, Puck and Ash reluctantly agree to help Megan on her journey to rescue her brother, though Megan must promise to allow Ash to take her to the Unseelie court to his evil mother, Queen Mab when the brother is returned safely home.


During their journey, they learn of the real culprit behind her brother's kidnapping, the Iron King. The idea of Iron Fey is a mystery and one the Summer and Winter Fey aren't sure truly even exists, as iron is deadly to fey.


Though Prince Ash has an icy cold exterior, we see occasional glimpses underneath as his feelings toward Megan change, and Megan tries to fight her feelings for a guy she knows she probably shouldn't have, while at the same time Puck starts to reveal his feelings for Megan.


This is a book I traded several hours of sleep for, because I just couldn't get enough of this book. This series is on my "must read" list. Go out and check it out for yourself. Oh, and say hello to Prince Ash for me.
